Fall Wellness Q&A with Our Medical Team

As the weather cools and schedules get busier, small seasonal habits can make a big difference in how you feel. We asked a few of our Connected Health providers to share their favorite fall wellness rituals and the preventative health check-ins they recommend this time of year—so you can stay healthy, energized, and ready for the season ahead.

Fall Wellness Q&A with Our Medical Team

Fall is the perfect time to slow down, refocus, and reset your health routines before the busy holiday season. We asked a few members of our dedicated Connected Health medical team to share their favorite fall wellness habits and the preventative health check-ins they recommend this time of year.

Dr. Chaitali Sarkar

Favorite Fall Wellness Habit:

“It’s very important to stay up on good Vitamin D supplementation for mood and seasonal affective disorder (SAD)—keep levels around 50–60 unless your doctor recommends otherwise. I also suggest a preventative regimen for upper respiratory infections, like elderberry or Vitamin C/D/Zinc supplements. And even though it’s hard to be outside, try to keep up a consistent workout routine. Also… I love burning candles during the cooler months for a little extra coziness!”

Preventative Health Check-In:

“I like to stay vaccinated for seasonal vaccines—and stay in touch with your doctor or provider.🙂"

Alana Pantely, PA-C

Favorite Fall Wellness Habit:

“Give yourself permission to rest when your body needs it this fall and winter! Rest supports your immune system and keeps your energy steady through the colder months.”

Preventative Health Check-In:

“While all preventative check-ins and screenings are important all year long, seasonally, I recommend ensuring you’re up to date on vaccines—specifically flu and pneumonia! Staying current with these vaccinations is an easy way to protect yourself this season."

Dr. Michael Duffy

Favorite Fall Wellness Habit:

“Fall is a great time to reset routines and build healthy habits. I encourage patients to remain active outside. Brisk walks, hiking, or cycling can be enjoyable in the fall. The shorter days provide a good opportunity to work on sleep hygiene but can also affect mental health in a negative way, so it’s important to prioritize mental health by practicing mindfulness or journaling. Fall is also the perfect time to get back in the kitchen and make home-cooked meals.”

Preventative Health Check-In:

“It’s important to see your healthcare provider for flu, COVID, and any other age-appropriate vaccines.”

Kaya Merzlak, CRNP

Favorite Fall Wellness Habit:

“I love fall outdoors – I make a point to go outside every day, regardless of the weather. Bundle up and crunch some leaves! As the weather turns, it’s easy to move less. I layer and walk outdoors with a cup of tea and warming spices to enjoy the crisp weather.”

Preventative Health Check-In:

“Sometimes health checks take a back burner as holidays approach. I think it’s most important now to stick to a few things that make you feel good—movement, fluids, family time. A fall flu shot is a good quick check-in with your provider as we plan for the end of the year.”

Dr. Suzanne Wolf

Favorite Fall Wellness Habit:

"I love walks and hikes in the fall. Getting outside is so beneficial for our health!"

Preventative Health Check-In:

"October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so make sure you're up to date with your mammogram. It's also the perfect time to get your seasonal vaccines to stay healthy all winter long."

🍁 A Final Word

Whether it’s rest, movement, nutrition, or vaccines, our providers agree: fall is the perfect time to tune in to your health. Schedule your seasonal check-ins, stay active in the crisp air, and don’t forget to make time for the little rituals that help you feel your best.
